Wearing Your Phone Horizontally

You're welcome to use your ingenuity to devise a means of wearing your phone horizontally.  Or, you can follow the steps suggested below.

Suggestion I

1.

Find a transparent pouch that's just large enough to contain your phone.

2.

Use a use a hole puncher to punch 4 holes near each of the 4 corners of the pouch.

3.

Thread elastic cord through the holes as shown. [Tip: Choose a color that matches the shirt that you'd like to wear.]

4.

Plug earphones into your phone, and insert your phone* into the transparent pouch.  Zip the pouch closed, while allowing the earphone wires to emerge.

5.

Use the top loop of the elastic cord to hang your phone around your neck. Wrap the lower lengths of cord around your back, and tie them in a bow in the front of your body as shown. [Ensure that your phone does not sway, when you walk.]

6.

Insert a 1-to-2-inch thick foam pad, or soft sponge, or folded washcloth, etc. between your phone carrier and your body (in order to insulate your phone from vibrations and reduce your EM exposure). Pressure and friction will hold it in place.

7.

Put your ear phones in your ears, and you're mission-ready!

Suggestion II

1.

2.

Plug earphones into your phone, insert your phone* into the fanny pack, and zip it closed while allowing the earphone wires to emerge. [You might find it useful to use scissors to cut out the rubber sheet that is intended to hold the phone in place. Doing so makes the phone's touch screen more accessible during certain missions and your earphones easier to plug into their jack.]

3.

Wear your phone around your or waist, or, to give your controller a higher vantage point, around your chest. [You also might have to wear it around your chest, if your waist measures less than 31.5"]

4.

Insert a 1-to-2-inch thick foam pad, or soft sponge, or folded washcloth, etc. between your fanny pack and your body (in order to insulate your phone from vibrations and reduce your EM exposure). Pressure and friction will hold it in place.

5.

Put your ear phones in your ears, and you're mission-ready!

Wearing Your Phone Vertically

This is the easiest way to wear you phone. Although it won't give your controller the best possible experience, it's the easiest way to get started as a proxy.

Suggestion I

1.

Wear a shirt with a chest pocket. Put your phone in the pocket with its touch screen facing forward*.

2.

Insert padding material (foam sponge, tissue, cotton balls etc.) behind and below your phone to 1) angle the phone so that it points forward, 2) allow at least half of the screen to protrude from the pocket, 3) hold your phone firmly in place within the pocket, and 4) provide a 1-inch separation between your phone and your body.

3.

Plug in your earphones, put them in your ears, and you're mission ready!

Suggestion II

1.

Buy a passport holder or badge holder, that fits your phone, and any required lanyard.

2.

Insert your phone into the document holder, and hang it around your neck. [Tip: Stabilize the holder by clipping it to your clothes with binder clips.]

3.

Plug in your earphones, put them in your ears, and you're mission-ready!

* You decide which side of your phone to face forward as follows: At the start of your mission, after your phone has established a connection to your controller, your phone's screen will either show a video stream of your controller's face, or it will not. If you see your controller's face, wear your phone so that its screen faces forward. If you do not see your controller's face, wear you phone so that the back of your phone faces forward (thus providing your controller with the higher-resolution video from your back camera). Be sure to tap your phone's screen below the preview image (of what the controller sees) to switch between the front and back camera.
